How far below my ask will each investor open?

Most regulars open about half below your valuation (median 50%). El Sewedy opens lowest, 60% below.

Each investor’s first offer, below the ask (median 50%)

Sample of 384 first offershow far below the implied valuation the first offer came

We compared each investor’s first offer with the valuation the founder’s ask implied (the value of the whole company that the amount and equity add up to). Across 384 first offers, the median, the middle value, is 50% below the ask. Abbas opens at 50% below, Farouk and Khalil at 51%.

El Sewedy opens lowest, at a median 60% below the ask. Mansour’s median is 57%, but he made too few first offers to chart, so read it as an example. The band shows the middle half of each investor’s first offers.

A first offer is a starting point. Founders who countered often moved it, so plan your counter-offer before you walk in.
