Does the customer I target matter?

Products for children closed 80% of the time; for teenagers, 58%. Upper-middle-income buyers 75%; low-income 55%.

Deal rate by the customer a pitch targets

Sample of 167 pitches with a stated customerdeals out of the pitches that named that customer

Correlation, not cause.

Pick the customer’s age or income group above the chart. Products for children closed a deal in 80% of 56 pitches. Products for teenagers closed 58% of 24. By income, products for upper-middle-income buyers closed 75%, and those for low-income buyers 55%.

Groups with few pitches move a lot with one result: only 11 pitches targeted low-income buyers. Groups under 5 pitches are left out. This is a correlation, not a cause.

Investors want to picture your buyer. Name them in one sentence: their age, what they earn and why they will pay your price.
